These works originate on a large worktable covered with clear film. Drawing, painting, and squeegeeing are performed directly on the film surface using a medium of laser toner powder mixed with alcohol — a technique analogous to lithographic tusche, with one crucial difference: once dry, the image exists as powder resting loosely on the film, fully erasable and infinitely revisable.
An overhead digital camera records each iteration. A working print is output at large format, placed beneath a fresh sheet of film, and the process begins again — each pass building on, or departing from, the last. The result is an iterative process with direct kinship to Picasso’s sequential Bull lithographs: a series of decisions, erasures, and recommitments, compressed into a single final image.
